IвЂ™m sure they have some metrics that show how many more $0.99 tables they sell than $3.99 tables, and it might be that they donвЂ™t know if theyвЂ™d honestly be able to charge $6.99 for the TZ table and sell all that many at all, as itвЂ™s easier for them to get the point across about the substantially higher licensing fees justifying a premium price on the Kickstarter site than it is to make someone understand why the TZ table costs as much as 3 other tables combined in the DLC menu.Aussie Pinball is the forum for Pinball enthusiasts and Collectors from not only Australia, but from around the world. The kinds of folks who would pay $10 for the table in advance on Kickstarter are the same folks who would probably pay a significant premium for the TZ table to begin with. The salaries, time, and equipment for the folks who are going to do the work to actually digitize the table are, as you mention, not insignificant.

So unless they think they could sell this TZ table at a higher enough premium than what they stand to gain using their time doing a much less expensive table, so much so that theyвЂ™d more than recoup the licensing fee as the difference then I see their point.ДЄs theyвЂ™ve stated, the $55k is the licensing fees alone. This $55k to do the TZ table is probably significantly more than it would cost them to do use their time and resources to do any other table instead. I guess it depends on how much profit they expect to make. Maybe IвЂ™m a super-rich one percent elitist dick now, but $55k just does not seem like that much money to an ongoing game development business. I donвЂ™t get the minor level of economics at work here.

I just donвЂ™t understand why we have to pony up $10+ for this particular table in advance couldnвЂ™t they simply license it, price the DLC appropriately (say $6.99 for the twilight zone table individually), and carry on?

Ok first of all, I paid $100 toward the Twilight Zone kickstarter, so I am not a hater.Д«ut canвЂ™t a game development studio like Farsight generate a mere $55k in licensing fees pretty easily? I mean a good game developer salary has to be around $70-100k/year, and surely theyвЂ™re generating plenty of income with their iOS, Android, Xbox, PS3 versions of Pinball Arcade and related DLC?
